EU Connects with Energy Stakeholders at Powertrends “Did you know that about 10% of Philippine households still do not have access to electricity…and that most of them are in Mindanao?” The EU-supported Access to Sustainable Energy Programme (ASEP) beams that question in its exhibit booth for the Powertrends international exhibition at the SMX Convention Center. Powertrends has been a regular event co-hosted by the Philippine Department of Energy since 1995. Held from 27th to 29th September 2017, the event this year has a regional, even global, scope because it is held in conjunction with the 35TH ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting (AMEM) and the ASEAN Energy Business Forum (AEBF), where ASEP senior expert, Prof. Dr. Christoph Menke, spoke about the EU project’s aim of providing electricity to more than 100,000 households through the use of renewable energy sources. ASEP supports the Philippine government’s 100% electrification target by 2022 and the promotion of energy efficiency through the allocation of 60 million euro for technical assistance, investment support, and direct grants to civil society organisations and other private groups for renewable energy projects in off-grid areas. https://www.eu-asep.ph/#EUCooperationHighlight #EU1withPH
