ASEP TA recently conducted its second Technical Planning Workshop last April 26-27, 2017 at the Widus Hotel Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga. The main topics discussed were the cross-cutting activities on capacity development, visibility and awareness raising in the areas of Rural Electrification and Energy Efficiency. The main objective of the workshop is to provide a venue to discuss the joint efforts of ASEP-TA and DOE 1) to improve capacity of staff and strengthen institutions involved in the attainment of ASEP objectives and 2) to raise awareness and visibility for initiatives supported by ASEP.
EUD Programme Manager, Mr. Willy Hick delivered the welcome remarks, while DOE-Power Bureau Director Mylene Capongcol gave an opening message. The updates on ASEP Technical Assistance activities and introduction of ASEP experts were given by Dr. Ernie Terrado, ASEP Key Expert 2 and OIC Team Leader.
Guest speaker Dr. Alan Cajes, Vice President of the Development Academy of the Philippines, talked on, “Competency-based Approach for HR Development.” ASEP TA Capacity Development Expert, Mr. Elmar Eberhardt, talked on “Specific Capacity Building Activities” while “Specific Awareness Raising Activities” were presented and discussed by ASEP Expert, Ms. Jo Mangila-Tioseco. EUCOMM3 representatives, Mr. Robert Francis Garcia and Mr. JP Fenix talked about the preliminary EU visibility and communication plan. Workshop participants included officials and senior technical staff from the DOE, NEA, NPC-SPUG and ERC. DOE-Administrative Services Director Angelina Manga delivered the closing remarks. The workshop was facilitated by Ms. Zayda Marquez.
